FAQs
Do I Need Any Previous Dance Experience?
No previous dance experience is required for our beginner, Contemporary and Commercial classes. We welcome dancers of all abilities, whether you’re stepping into a studio for the very first time or returning to dance after a break.
Our experienced instructors create a supportive and inclusive environment, breaking down choreography step by step so you can learn at your own pace while building confidence and technique.
If you have previous dance experience, you may also enjoy our intermediate and advanced classes, which are designed to provide a greater level of challenge.
What Do I Bring To Class?
There is no specialist equipment required for our classes. We recommend bringing:
• A bottle of water to stay hydrated throughout the session.
• Knee pads for classes that include floorwork, as these will provide additional comfort and protection.
• Appropriate footwear for your class. If you are attending a heels class, please bring a suitable pair of dance heels.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and arrive a few minutes early so you have time to get settled before class begins.
What Do I Wear?
For class, we recommend wearing whatever you feel most comfortable and confident in. Most dancers choose to wear leggings, joggers or shorts, paired with a top that allows them to move freely throughout the class.
Many of our dancers opt for an all-black outfit to create a clean, cohesive look, but this is only essential for filming weeks.
We also offer a range of Watton Dance merchandise, making it easy to find something suitable for class. Our collection includes crop tops, halter necks, T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, joggers, playsuits and bags.
If you would like to purchase any Watton Dance merchandise, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’d be happy to help you find the perfect fit.
What Heels Do I Need?
For our heels classes, we recommend wearing sock boot heels, as they provide the greatest level of support for your feet and ankles.
Open-toe styles are ideal, as they allow you to point through your toes more effectively and distribute your weight more evenly. If you’re new to dancing in heels, we also recommend choosing a thicker heel, which offers greater stability and balance. Stiletto heels can be worn, but they require more strength, control and experience, making them a more advanced option.
If you’re unsure whether your heels are suitable, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re always happy to offer advice before your first class.
